NOTES: Langelott (1617-1680) was born at Ordorff in THuringia. He studied medicine at Jena, Rostock, and Copenhagen, as well as, Leiden. He practiced chemistry at Gottorp. He traveled in England and was court physician in 1647 to Frederick IV, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. He addressed the German Academy of the Curious as to Nature and reaffirmed there "chemical secretrs of great moment." [Thorndike]He discovered a method to restore mercury of antimony from the number of non-entities by chilling and coagulating it again after it has been resolved into the tiniest atoms by violent fire.
